Top 5 Tips for Using Instagram for your Business

5TipsUsingInstagramBlog_Header

On a daily basis, 75 million Instagram users sign into their personal accounts. On a monthly basis, over 500 million users search Instagram for appealing images. Instagram is becoming a necessary social media outlet for business owners, especially wedding photographers who can share beautiful images with potential clients.

In our Instagram for the Wedding Photographer Guide, we discuss simple strategies to help you develop and maintain a successful Instagram account. We also showcase a few Instagram pros who share their techniques to mastering Instagram. Here are 5 tips to help you properly use Instagram in for your wedding photography business.

1. Create Two Profiles

Consider creating two separate profiles – a wedding photography business profile and a personal profile. In your business profile, it is still important to share some personal photos, but you can use this to primarily showcase your wedding photos and gain followers who are potentially interested in booking you. If you started on Instagram with a personal profile, change that Instagram handle to your photography business name – this way, all of your followers will now be following your wedding photography business. Simply changing your handle allows you to keep the followers you gained and allows you to create a more business-centric page. From here, you can create a new personal Instagram account.

5FamilyFormals_Banner

Family formals are a must-have in the world of wedding photography. The bride and groom have invited their core family members to share their special moments with, and it is your job to create images that are memorable and unique. To ensure that you create dynamic images each time you shoot the family, we’ve provided the 5 ways you can spice up your family formals and get through them as efficiently as possible.

1. Create a List

Reach out to your couple a few weeks before the wedding to discuss who they would like included in these portraits. From here, you can create a list of how many family formals shots there will be and which members of the family are in each one. The list should be as specific as possible to ensure that the entire process runs smoothly. Remember that every family is different! Just as you may select a unique Color Profile for each job you send to ShootDotEdit for color corrections, be sure that the list is unique and tailored to fit the needs of your current bride and groom. [···]

3 Unique Ways to Shoot the Wedding Details

3 unique ways to shoot the wedding details

As a wedding photographer, you have a unique opportunity to capture the intimate details of a very special day. The pictures you take will stay with your couples for years to come, so it is necessary to shoot the moments that count. Couples often spend a lot of time planning out every single detail of their wedding, so it’s important that you showcase some of the details! From getting ready to arriving at the church, and the cake cutting, these details matter! We’ve put together 3 tips that will help you find interesting and dynamic ways to shoot the detail shots during a wedding.

#1. Master Depth of Field

Using depth of field in your images helps isolate the parts of the image that you want your client’s eyes to be drawn to. For example, if your focus is the bride’s dress, blur out the rest of the background by using a larger aperture so that the dress is highlighted in the image. You can also focus on a specific part of a detail to showcase a portion of it. One way to do this is to take the bride’s bouquet and focus on one main flower in the assortment – blur the rest of the bouquet out for dramatic effect. Also, try placing a few different details together, such as flowers and jewelry, and focus on one of these details while the others create a soft background.

1. Take Care of Your Ideal Clients

As a wedding photographer, one of your goals is to book clients that are ideal for your business. Once you book those clients, you need to take care of them! A great way to do this is to give your past and present clients thoughtful gifts that are non-photography related. The photography duo loves to give past clients a William Sonoma Bride & Groom Cookbook. Remember to send gifts that your ideal clients will share on Facebook and Instagram because that can help drive traffic to your website. Taking care of clients is an important part of growing your business, as your ideal clients will refer you to their family and friends who may also be ideal clients for you.

3_TipsForFacebook_Banner

With over 1.35 billion active users on Facebook, it is one of the most popular social platforms you can use to advertise your wedding photography business. This social site can be the ultimate marketing tool to grow your business, so how can you effectively post on Facebook to increase traffic to your business? Here are three tips that will help you succeed in creating effective Facebook posts.

1. Post when people are online

While you may be the most creative at 2am and produce great blog posts at that hour, resist the temptation to post them to Facebook right away. Though it may seem like a great idea to get it live on Facebook as soon as possible, consider who is actually online at that time. Are the clients that you cater to sleeping or awake and active? Are your Facebook followers working during this time or are they free somewhere that they can browse the Internet? If you want more people to see your post, make sure to post when people are at their computers and actively on Facebook. [···]
