ShootDotEdit :: Fun Friday!

What happens when you take a few peeps from our Team, go outside for a little Friday ‘recess’, and throw a camera in the mix? An SDE Photo Adventure, with a twist!

The staff was divided into teams of two – one person controlled the camera but couldn’t look, and the other person was the ‘eyes’. They directed their teammate as to how and what to shoot. Each team had 5 minutes to shoot a total of three photos…and the laughter ensued! Our illustrious leader Garrett Delph and Customer Experience member Rachel Edwards documented the outing for our clients’ entertainment, with Rachel on the timer to keep the teams in check.

Garrett and Kevin had the challenge of being the first team to go.

Kim and Jake learned from watching the previous team; Jake took advantage of Kim’s height and was able to look through the viewfinder to compose a little better!

Our last team, Lisa and Travis, had a little extra time to think about what they wanted to shoot and got creative with their compositions!

Aside from being fun and giving everyone a break to do what they love most (photography and post production!), it also helped the team learn to work together better and work through communication and leadership issues.

Once back in the office, we narrowed it down to our favorite photo from each team, and then voted on our top favorite from the entire lot. Now, we are passing the torch on to you, our talented customers, so that you can use your artistic eyes to tell us which photo is YOUR favorite!

Peruse the photos below, and then head over to our Facebook page to vote on the images below!

Our newest partnership….Album Exposure!

Late last year, we realized that we needed to be providing Album Design to all of our photographers.  The natural progression of post production takes you straight from image editing to album design.  And, we wanted to continue to remove the pain caused by post production!  So, in March we launched our Album Design service.

BUT …. How do we showcase your album designs?  Sure, we send you the .pdf files.  Or, we could create some preview software that would get the job done.  But all of this seemed ridiculous …. We wanted to just partner with the best.  And we’ve done it.

Announcing our partnership and integration with Album Exposure!  Known for their simple and elegant album proofing system, our partnership allows you to not only get a great album design, but elegant proofing straight to your client.  With Album Exposure, you can take a ShootDotEdit album design, and preview it straight to your client.  Any and all changes they request are seen in real time by both you and ShootDotEdit, and changes are quick and easy!  Because of this partnership, you’ll have the opportunity to proof 2 Designs with Album Exposure for absolutely FREE!

So how about giving it a try?  Through the end of the week, we’re offering 30% OFF album design services!  Just use code: AEandSDE

It’s Friday! That means Donuts, Donuts, Donuts!

Well, it’s Friday 🙂  And, usually, we try and do a healthy round of donuts + coffee in the a.m.   And, well, Chris (our Shipping/Receiving guy) went for the gusto today and brought in a flying saucer disguised as a donut!  LOLOLL!!!  Happy Friday everyone.  PS, this was shot on a high-end 1st generation G1 phone that delivers about .05 megapixels per image.  Ahhh to the yeah!

Nice work Amy!

Alright…, it’s time to showcase one of our many uber talented customers, Amy DeYoung.  She is a stellar photographer with accolades ta’ boot!  But, don’t let all the ‘Features’ and ‘Covers’ from top industry magazines fool you.  If anyone ‘really’ knows photographers after all the smoke and mirrors subsided, we do.  And, Amy is a ‘what you see, is what you get’ kind of girl.

Amy is married to her best friend Paul and resides in San Antonio, TX with her son and 2 dogs.  She is passionate about capturing real moments.  And so, it’s probably safe to say that being a professional photographer was not chosen by her, but rather received as a divine gift and then fanned into flames by her well suited passion. It is ‘behind the lense’ that she finds her inspiration.  And, with her pursuit to create timeless works of art, she finds inspiration in the nuances that happen with people in real moments (ie. a blushing bride, a newborn baby, a family strolling through the park, a child full of innocence, or a man winking at the woman he loves, etc.).

Also, ShootDotEdit applauds Amy for taking steps to set herself and her brand apart.  Recently, she launched her brand new website that incorporates ‘Fusion’ and also incorporates the fantastic product by David Jay, Show It Sites.  Amy, very well done 🙂

If you would like to check out Amy’s work, CLICK HERE.  In the meanwhile, here are a few clips from her work we thought we would share!  Oh, Amy, you rock.  Keep up the good work!!!
